AMAZON INVESTS SOUTH AFRICA
After months of legal battle (following a historico-cultural disagreement as to the location chosen), the e-commerce giant has received authorization to set up its Africa headquarters in Cape Town.
The project promises to be colossal with the construction of a residential and commercial complex on 15 hectares and more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs created.
According to a study conducted by World Wide Worx and Mastercard, 2023 forecasts announce an increase in e-commerce of +25%. Online commerce should also drive retail activity, and represent more than 5% of total sales.
The potential attractiveness of the country no longer needs to be demonstrated. South Africa remains, in fact, a destination of choice for many large American and European groups and a strategic springboard to the countries of the southern zone, even sub-Saharan. The devaluation of the rand for several months has greatly favored foreign investment.
