THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ALSTOM: A VIRTUOUS DEVELOPMENT MODEL DESIGNED 10 YEARS AGO
More than 10 years after their establishment in South Africa, Alstom can report an active participation in the South African economy.
Alstom has invested in the construction of a plant majority-owned by the local partner and has made a major commitment to skills development and job creation. Alstom has supported the South African policy of positive discrimination since its inception by hiring among the historically disadvantaged local population, from neighboring communities. Also, the share of purchases from South African suppliers and service providers represents no less than 79%, the company collaborating with more than 500 South African companies! These numbers will be increased very soon, in order to feed a greener, smarter and safer development strategy, deployed in the rest of southern Africa.
